FirstPark

A A A

Designed with patients in mind, MaineGeneral's outpatient diagnostic center at FirstPark brings the latest in state-of-the-art digital X-ray technology to patients and features a private area dedicated to women's mammography and bone density screening.

The 20,000-square-foot-facility at 107 FirstPark Drive, Oakland also houses an orthopaedic physician practice with an adjacent area for physical and occupational therapy and sports medicine services.

The facility is easily accessible to I-95, with plenty of parking and easy access to the building.

A spacious waiting area greets patients and provides private booths for confidential registration.

Laboratory Services

Just off the waiting area, two phlebotomists draw blood that is taken by courier to MaineGeneral's Thayer Center for Health for testing.

A separate space for children and electrocardiogram (EKG) testing also is included.

Women's Health Diagnostic Area

FirstPark provides a warm, private and friendly atmosphere for women to get their mammograms and bone density screenings done.

Women-only changing and waiting areas are next to two state-of-the-art digital mammography and assessment suites. Women who are having other X-rays also are welcome to use the women-only waiting area.

The digital technology used at FirstPark is the latest available and provides shorter exam times for patients (about 15 minutes from start to finish), less exposure to radiation and fewer retakes because high-quality images are available instantly.

Digital mammography detects even the smallest abnormalities in the breast and provides better images particularly in younger patients and those with dense breast tissue.

MaineGeneral uses "soft touch pads" on the mammography machines' hard surfaces to make the procedure more comfortable for patients.

MaineGeneral's Picture Archiving Communication System (PACS) technology also allows imaging staff to transmit all digital X-ray exams electronically to radiologists for reading at the medical center's Thayer Center for Health.

Orthopaedic & Rehab Services

A separate entrance and area house MaineGeneral Orthopaedics, which has direct access to MaineGeneral's digital X-ray technology and rehabilitation services for patients' convenience.

Orthopaedic patients can be scheduled for physical and/or occupational therapy the same day as their physician office visit, allowing them to get everything done at one place and in one visit.

The onsite rehabilitation services also allow physicians to see firsthand how patients are doing on the treadmill or exercising. Therapists also can make onsite custom splints the physicians may require.
