Tumor Board

A A A

MaineGeneral's Tumor Board is a collective meeting of clinicians from various specialty areas who evaluate and discuss patients for whom a multidisciplinary approach is being considered.

The board includes specialists from surgery, medical and radiation oncology, radiology, pharmacy and pathology, as well as oncology nurses, tumor registrars, data managers and patients' attending physicians.

Collectively, the board determines the best treatment options and approach for each patient.

The Tumor Board meets weekly in Augusta and Waterville, reviewing an average of 12 cases at each location per meeting.

Data for all analytic cases is submitted annually to the National Cancer Data Base (NCDB).

Patients can request to have their care discussed by the Tumor Board by speaking with their oncology physician.
