Maternity Care

A A A

Our Maternity Care section shows MaineGeneral's current C-section rates and how they compare with the median rate of the 356 similar hospitals for which we have comparable data.

We've also included a section on breastfeeding rates. Studies show that breastfeeding is healthier than bottle feeding for babies and mothers and can decrease the risks of many infections and conditions.

For many of these indicators, there are no national comparisons. For breastfeeding, we use a comparison to the World Health Organization (WHO) goal.

Because preparation is one way to promote healthy pregnancies and deliveries, MaineGeneral offers many prenatal and parenting classes. Click here for a complete list of classes.
