Amputee Rehabilitation

If you are an amputee who needs rehabilitation to regain independence, we're with you! MaineGeneral's rehabilitation team offers physical and occupational therapy services for patients who are below- or above-knee amputees, as well as arm amputees. 

An occupational therapist works with a patient during an Amputee Rehabilitation program sessionWe provide a safe environment for you to learn to walk and use your arms again.

Our therapists assist in limb management, concentrating on strength, endurance, function, gait (for lower extremity) and pain control.

We combine our expert clinical knowledge with specialized rehabilitation and exercise equipment to help you strengthen for pre-prosthetic training.

We also work closely with local prosthetic companies to help you maximize fit, function and overall wellbeing.
