Respirator Medical Clearance and Fit Testing Services

Under OSHA's Respiratory Protection Standard, employers are required to ensure that employees who wear respirators are medically evaluated, properly fit-tested and trained on safe use.

  • Employers must maintain a written respiratory protection program and provide training to all employees who use respirators.
  • Employees must be evaluated by a physician or other licensed health care professional (PLHCP) before wearing a respirator. This evaluation begins with the OSHA Respirator Medical Evaluation Questionnaire, which helps identify any health conditions that could make respirator use unsafe.
  • Employee responses to the medical questionnaire are confidential and cannot be shared the employer.

Workplace Health offers comprehensive services to support your compliance with OSHA requirements:

  • Review of OSHA Respirator Medical Evaluation Questionnaires
  • Medical clearance exams by licensed professionals
  • Qualitative and quantitative respirator fit testing
