CAOHC-Approved Occupational Hearing Conservationist (OHC) Certification & Recertification Courses Presented by MaineGeneral Workplace Health
The MaineGeneral Workplace Health offers both the Initial 3-Day Certification Course and the 1-Day Recertification Course for Occupational Hearing Conservationists (OHC), approved by the Council for Accreditation in Occupational Hearing Conservation (CAOHC). These courses are designed to meet the full 20-hour certification requirement and provide essential training for those conducting occupational hearing testing and hearing conservation efforts.
Course Overview
Initial Certification (3 days)
Covers the full scope of hearing conservation program responsibilities, including:
- Anatomy and physiology of the ear
- Hearing loss prevention and conservation strategies
- Audiometric testing procedures and equipment use
- Legal and regulatory requirements
- Hearing protection devices and employee education
- Noise measurement and monitoring
Recertification Course (1 day)
Designed for professionals maintaining their CAOHC credentials, this one-day course reviews updates in regulations and reinforces best practices in hearing conservation.
Certification Duration
CAOHC certification is valid for five years.

- Full Certification Course: $950 per attendee
- Recertification Course: $650 per attendee
- CAOHC Manual (not included with course materials): $85
Full payment is required prior to the start of the course. Lunch and course materials are included.
