Open Access Clinic
After a cancer diagnosis, and the start of treatment, patients may experience some form of physical discomfort. MaineGeneral’s Harold Alfond Center for Cancer Care Open Access Clinic is here to help care for you between office visits. We know it’s important to you to be seen by the team that knows your care needs best, and for you to be seen in a place that is familiar to you.
Primary Palliative Care
At MaineGeneral’s Harold Alfond Center for Cancer Care we recognize that cancer affects you and your family in many ways that impact your quality of life, and our goal is to support you and make you as comfortable as possible, every step of the way. We do this through our Primary Palliative Care program, which is designed to help you live well throughout your treatment and beyond.
Medical Oncology is our area of care devoted to diagnosing and treating your cancer with what we call systemic care. This means our medical oncologists at the Harold Alfond Center for Cancer Care use specialized medications, perhaps chemotherapy or immunotherapy, to treat your cancer. We are fortunate to have a beautiful treatment area designed to provide you with comfort and promote relaxation while you are here.
MaineGeneral’s Harold Alfond Center for Cancer Care is able to provide you with advanced treatments here in your own community. Radiation Oncology allows our team of specialists, which includes your oncologist, physicists, dosimetrists, therapists and nurses, to treat your cancer. Because we have some of the newest technologies, we can treat many cancers with new techniques called stereotactic radiosurgery and stereotactic ablative radiotherapy.
The impact of a cancer diagnosis can affect every aspect of your life for a long time after treatment is over. That’s why we’re committed to providing you with the best plan of care and support throughout your recovery, and your life after treatment.
