I love Dr. Joseph Lopes. He was awesome. He had a great sense of humor and he was really, really smart and he really knew what he was talking about. I felt really, really awesome and felt much better when he was done the procedure that I had and I'm really, really glad I had him and I'm definitely going to recommend him to anybody who needs help with their urology needs. I was very disappointed with Dr. Lopes. I was being seen for trace blood and white debris and foamy urine. I showed the doctor a picture of my urine. He took a quick look and never gave me any answers what it could be. He asked me questions about surgery in that area and went on to say what tests they could do a cat scan and a scope with camera into bladder. He said he might find something or not. Sometimes he would find something. In the manner he was talking it was like he probably wouldn't find anything and said it was up to me if I wanted to do that. I said no as I got the impression he wouldn't find anything anyways. I told him I have a kidney stone in my right kidney but I wasn't having any pain. I only have lower back pain, pressure in my lower abdomen, frequency and urgency and sometimes pee a little with coughing. Foamy urine with white chunky debris as I showed him. I asked if it could be interstitial cystitis. He wrinkled up his nose and shook his head side to side and said no it wasn't that. Never gave a reason why he didn't think it was. He said well if things don't change and you change your mind call and we can set it up. He escorted me out and made a joke about the long hallways and there were many of them then opened the door and said you don't need to stop at check out! I feel as if I wasn't taken seriously especially still not knowing whats in my urine. I thought quite possibly I might get sent home with something to catch my urine in to see if I could get a sample of the what the white stuff that is in my urine as it doesn't happen every day. I see my oncologist that referred me to urology next week hopefully this will go away as I don't believe I'll be back to your urology dept.

Simple efficient visit. Questions heard and answered thoroughly.

He took a good deal of time to make sure I understood why I was seeing him and what the future plan involved.

Everything was very good except for getting the Refferal scheduled. It took far too long in my opinion

I met Dr. Lopes the fall of 2006, it was that very day I knew I would like him; his mannerisms and demeanor (relaxed personality) were perfect for me. He has removed the prostate due to cancer and again in 2018 he saved me from Kidney cancer where he removed my left kidney. I have been seeing Dr. Lopes since 2006 and feel blessed for having him on my medical team. I could go on forever about how much I appreciate his attention to my health concerns.

Dr. Lopes is amazing. He cured me of the condition I came to him with, which was not easy. His staff is awesome. So I'm very grateful for Dr. Lopes and the staff at Urology at UMain there. They're the best and they cured me for a condition that's not easy to cure. So I'm very grateful to them. Thank you.

From the PSR that check me in to the end of appt. Was great also wonderful that provider actually walked me to PSR at end of visit to schedule appt

The entire team, including Dr. Loce, are just outstanding. I've been going there for quite a few years and they are exceptional, just fantastic. I just can't say enough about them. I'm truly blessed to have them all looking after me and the doctor, Loce, taking care of me. They're the best.

Dr. Lopes is great

Dr Lopes is very down to earth and honest with his discussions. I feel extremely comfortable in his care and trust his opinions.

I am very impressed with Dr. Lopes' information and guidance.

I have found that I need to ask doctor Lopes extra questions. Learning to become my own advocate has taken me many years. I'm still learning to ask the right questions. That's the most important thing me. It's important for me to do this without appearing rude to the doctor. Urology still confuses me and I still have questions for Dr Lopes. I should remember to write my questions down before coming in. Thank you.

Everyone was helpful and scheduled me into a cancellation due to kidney stone. Dr. Lopes was clear on what I should do and included me in decisions. He listened and said he would try to schedule me as soon as possible. I appreciate his honesty and willingness to answer questions and concerns. Maine General needs to hire more urologists to help with the number of patients.

Dr. Lopes as usual did a good job of addressing my issues and laying out a plan to take care of my concerns.

Good experience

I liked the team. As for the hospital not really impressed Today was good but all in all short staff that seem frustrated. I personally have 7 referrals I am waiting for. Also your policy on how you do not contact t the patient for months and leave us hanging without an appointment till someone finally calls.

Dr Lopes was informative and patient. A plan forward was crafted by the two of us.

Joe Lopes does a wonderful job and on the particular day I was there, the facility was running with just him I believe and even though he was carrying the entire load for the day, he was who he is as a person and I felt definitely taken care of and definitely concentrated on and he apologized for potentially maybe not being in a position to linger longer and chat a little bit about things. I've known him for many years and I am going to be lost without him when he retires. And I hope he can retire whenever he wants to because he deserves every good thing and he's a fantastic urologist and I always appreciate being seen by Joe whenever I need to be and I'm always being able to see Joe and this is an annual event that I had with him and I can't believe where the time goes. How has it been a year? Well thank you folks for everything you do in your complicated days.

I apologized to the doctor for all the questions I just needed them answered for my own piece of Mind. He replied he was double booked and just did not have the time.

Very professional ..had an automatic liking for Dr Lopes...

Dr. Lopes (and his female medical assistant) were very kind and caring during my cystoscopy procedure. The attending nurse made me feel very comfortable, and eased my stress level before my procedure. And Dr. Lopes was very kind caring and knowledgeable. He constantly explained what was going to occur, and what was occurring during the entire time I was there. And he gave me the results immediately. I appreciate Dr. Lopes and his nurse for their kindness and compassion.

Dr. Lopes is an excellent doctor. He has my full confidence. There is a terrible problem with people answering the phones and returning calls in a timely manner. It took me a week of calling to get a prescription from a NP and then a diffmedication called in by doctor. I was not notified to change medications. Third prescription was called in two days later. Never received call from the office. This was an infection that got worse for the week delay and them not right medication. This was a medical issue and should have been answered in a timely manner.

The doctor really cares about my health. He not only wants to take care of the problem but wants to get a grip on what is causing the problem so that it will not happen again. He answers questions. He talks about a variety of solutions. He is honest with me.

I felt he treated me as though I was wasting his time and he asked me why I was there and I told him what my doctor told me. As I shared this information with him, I watched and he rolled his eyes and shook his head which made me question if he was questioning the authenticity of what I was telling him, or was irritated at the information I was told by my doctor. Either way, I felt disrespected and hurt and really don't care for his bedside manner.

Yeah, the scheduling of my appointment was messed up. I went two other times and that wasn't the date and they gave me the wrong information the first couple of times. But it was figured out and we were able to get an appointment later in the month.

Augusta Urology canceled me the day before due to an emergency. We had a serious issue that needed immediate attention. Augusta could have squeezed me like Waterville did because I had a cancer diagnosis. But they scheduled me a month later. We called Waterville, they listened to us and called back and made an appointment for the next day. Next appointments were made quickly too.

Super friendly staff from the moment, I walked through the front door until the time I left. Everyone was extremely helpful, kind, and courteous.

I never actually saw the doctor. I was left in the room for over 40 minutes. I had to leave for another appointment. This is the second time I was left in a room for way too long.

Dr lopes was very good and I will be getting back to him when I have the work done on my heart first. He said that's a good idea before going ahead of doing anything for the work needed to be done with me having a good heart is a good idea before going through surgery.
