James Jacobs, PhD, is a child psychologist at the Edmund N. Ervin Pediatric Center in Augusta. A member of MaineGeneral Medical Center's Professional Service Staff since November 2016, Dr. Jacobs joined the pediatric center's staff after working since 2005 for the Department of Veterans Affairs in Ohio and Boston. Dr. Jacobs has had an extensive professional career in Maine. From 1986 to 1994, he was director of children's services, then clinical director, for Kennebec Valley Mental Health Center. He then worked as a forensic/child psychologist in private practice until 2005. From 1988 to 2005, Dr. Jacobs also served on the steering committee for the Child Abuse Action Network, a subcommittee of the Maine State Interdepartmental Council.
