Dr. Patten is an Augusta native and a graduate of Cony High School. As part of his sports medicine fellowship at the Kerlan-Jobe Orthopedic Clinic in Los Angeles, CA, he worked as an assistant team physician for the Los Angeles Rams, Los Angeles Angels, Anaheim Ducks, Los Angeles Galaxy, Los Angeles Sparks and Los Angeles Football Club. During his orthopaedic surgery residency at The Johns Hopkins Hospital in Baltimore, MD, he also worked as assistant team physician for The Johns Hopkins University Men's Lacrosse Team from 2016 to 2020.

I felt the staff was very competent and knew exactly what would come next for me. What I would have liked was a little more information to prepare me for what would come next, appointment, scheduling, preparation-wise.

Whenever a patient tells a nurse, a doctor, and the person giving you your knockout medicine for surgery that you cannot have a medicine such as fentanyl after surgery, and they try to give it to you anyway, I think that's a bad thing and should not happen. And you should not be walking away without any kind of medicine. You should not have to sit in the doctor's office and suffer the entire time before your surgery either. Now, how do I end this?

I didn't understand which procedure they would have to do for my shoulder. I knew it was shoulder replacement, but I am possibly, probably looking at reverse shoulder replacement. I just didn't understand it completely well.

You could most improve by including your patient or clients in their need for your services for the orthopedic surgery and information on that, return visits, the status of being bumped and not seen if you're late for an appointment or 15 minutes, not arriving 15 minutes early, but arriving on the time that your appointment is scheduled instead of being told that you have to reschedule and for the ones that are there that are on time, they should be seen on time or change the outgoing message.

I have dealt with a lot of orthopedic places and this has to be the best one yet. The doctors are very very nice the nurses were very pleasant I felt very comfortable and safe there I usually don't score a 10 on the survey but this place deserved it this time....

Frankly, one of the best experiences I have had in a medical facility. Dr Patten was thorough in explaining the process to recovery and I appreciated his optimism. Staff were super communicative and followed up the same day.

Dr. Patten is flawless in his manner and his expertise. His staff are friendly and responsive more so than my experience with another big hospital. In fact, I left another orthopedic surgeon due to the lack of responsiveness from her staff. Dr. Patten's team are efficient and friendly.

Dr. Patten and his team are absolutely amazing. He performed surgery for my daughter and I was so impressed that now he's doing surgery on my knee. And when that is done, we may have him see my husband who also has a torn ligament in his knee. He's amazing and his bedside manner is awesome.

Yes, trying to get a telephone to geneal, call into the department that I used, I left a number to call me back. They never called back. Plus I waited for over an hour and six minutes on the phone waiting to get answered so I could talk to somebody about my appointment and it never happened. And that's very lousy, unacceptable. Thank you.

My appointment was at 9:50. I was taken into the room at 10:30. I didn't see the doctor until 10:50. My time is also valuable and there where no communication on why there a delay and no apologies.

I understand the staff are very busy, but it would be nice to know what the options are for further discussion to help patients decide on surgery. The initial appointment can be a surprise when surgery is recommended, and in that case the patient may not have enough time to think about all their questions then and there.

I was not impressed with the Dr not having looked at my X-rays and I had pulled up my MRI results on my phone to read a treatment option was given and made to sound like it was my only choice I do not feel he was knowledgeable about what I was there for and a follow up was not made I will not be going back

I was impressed with check-in. I was also impressed with the nurse, nurse's CNA that checked me in and in the office the lady, nurse, the assistant nurse, and Dr. Ian was very good. I felt at ease. The kind of care that should be the norm

Dr Patten was very down to earth and explained what was happening and why. Gave clear information on what he'd suggest for treatment and what if it didn't work. Only concern was with office staff not being able to schedule things in a timely manner to start and not listening to referral that stated doctor Patten is who was preferred to see. Dr patten stated ultrasound guided injection and was told they will send message and someone would get back to me but still waiting.

Scheduling needs to take the time to make an actual phone call to arrange an appointment. I receive only a text message after hours the night before an appointment has been made for me with no conversation with me about my availability. this is highly inefficient, and inappropriate. this has happened to me multiple times.

Dr.Patten and his support staff have always provided great medical care.My only complaint is that the co-pay receipt does not have a date of service or doctor's name listed which makes it impossible to get reimbursed for through an HSA.

Absolutely love Dr. Patten. He is amazing amazing amazing so happy with him. I was very happy with the assessment. Nurse that called me the day prior to surgery. I was not happy with the nurses that took my son and I felt rushed. I felt like I wasn't able to ask questions Prior to the surgery. I wished they would've included me more.

While talking to the doctor, he didn't seem to have as many issues with my shoulder as the nurse from FMI did when she called me initially about the reading from the MRI. So I was left kind of wondering how complete my diagnosis was

The individual who checked me in charged me $75 copay because I didn't have my insurance card. When I attempted to obtain a scan of it from my wife she told me that would not suffice. She would not move forward without payment immediately. The staff out back after my visit with the doctor helped me and had the charges reversed and manually entered my insurance. I very much appreciated their support. The initial check in person was less than pleasant.

The gentleman at front was courteous but no super friendly. He did get the job done. Dr. Patten's staff and radiologist were all very kind and compassionate and each did their job function well. Dr Patten was wonderful, kind, informative, professional, knowledgeable, great listener, thorough, and involved me in the decision making for my care. I have not had an experience like this with a doctor in a long time. Glad he is with Maine General, you have a great asset in him.
