This is truly the first time in years I've felt listened to, heard and respected but I am not a traditional onc patient . I was emotional reading a note written by the dietician I met with because the way she put into words what I have been trying to verbalize was just like wow, she listened. Someone listened. I'm so thankful for everyone from reception to Dr P.

The MA who did my rooming was 20 mins late getting me to my room - I was scheduled for her at 910, she got me at 930, and didn't apologize for the delay. She did not verify my demographics, or do vitals, she was quick in the room, didn't ask who was with me, and left with the door open when she left. We did not see her again. Dr. Polkinghorn was 40 mins late and we didn't see anyone else to tell us he was running behind. We had to use the restroom and had to ask someone in the hallway where the restroom was located. I was not introduced to the nurse care manager until Dr. Polkinghorn asked if we had met her yet, at the end of the visit as we were walking out. As a first time patient with a very new diagnosis of cancer, not being greeted or having any explanation of the services, roles, or expectations, it was not welcoming or comforting. I was offered no information about services offered out of that office. Dr. Polkinghorn did apologize for running behind upon entering the room, but did seem rushed during the visit. He seemed dismissive about my concern with my sisters cancer being found under an MRI, and my question to have a breast MRI. I believe that Dr. Polkinghorn is very knowledgeable and will be an asset to my care team in providing the technical expertise to my care plan. I didn't find that he, or his care team, had the bedside manner of someone I would want to interact with during the actual treatment implementation and I am looking forward to having my treatments in a different facility, based on my experience in this office for this particular appointment.

The DR and staff treated me like I was a person not just another patient number. That means so much when you're going through something like this.

I had never been there before and the one thing that stood out the most was how friendly, helpful and very compassionate towards the patients as I sat in the waiting room including myself. Everyone was extremely helpful with showing me where to go since I'd never been there. Dr. Polkinghorn was absolutely AMAZING!!!! He listened and asked lots of questions but never made me feel like I had to rush with my answers. He also made me feel very comfortable considering how nervous I was.

I feel like when we're doing Zoom calls, Dr. P should be more prepared for when we are getting together to do that. Thanks.

I am very pleased with my visit to this place; the staff were friendly and professional. The doctors and nurses provided excellent care. Thank you very much to everyone here.

Always a great experience

I always enjoy my appointment with Dr. Polkinghorn, what bothers me is my appointments seem to always get rescheduled without my knowledge until I receive it in the mail, I work full-time for a living and can't just switch dates or times on such short notice. The scheduling team should be calling to work with me, not just take it upon themselves to pick an appointment time without my knowledge. Otherwise only complaint with this facility.

We love Mainegeneral! Everyone is very nice and caring. Dr. Polkinghorn is a great doctor and Maine General is very lucky to have him there!

Although recent labs were recorded I still had to see MD. The conversation was brief and I am anticipating a bill. Dr. Polkinghorn has been compassionate and informative. I sense that he was not fully engaged during this appt. which was disappointing.

One thing I particularly appreciated was the balance between professionalism and personal attention. The entire staff was organized, knowledgeable, and efficient, yet I never felt rushed or like I was just another patient being moved through the system. That combination is reassuring and speaks very well of the practice. Thank you.

I found Dr. Polkinghorn very knowledgeable and very welcoming. I enjoyed my visit with him very much and I am very comfortable with the quality of his care.

Would appreciate more high sitting chairs in the waiting area as well as the patient/ Dr. room. Miss the lab chairs with the good arms. I have spinal arthritis so getting up and down can be a challenge. The mobility scooters seemed to be missing?

I am so very blessed to have Harold Alfond Cancer Center so close to home. Since day one, meeting Dr Polkinghorn and my team, they had a plan in place. I was called in earlier than expected for my first day of treatment & away we went! Oncology nurses are so kind and compassionate. They answer questions about my treatment and just make me feel comfortable. Nutritionist comes and we touch base. It's everything all in one center. Praise God for all of this

It was the day before Valentine's Day when I came in for my appointment and I received a beautiful picture drawn by a student from a school from somewhere and a card from the staff for Valentine's Day and that was amazing and it's really encouraging and I'm so very grateful.

Dr. Polkinghorn was knowledgeable and his instructions are clear and he spent enough time with me and is a very compassionate doctor.

I appreciated all of the care that I got at the cancer center from the moment I walked in. The ladies behind the desk at check-in were extremely friendly and helpful and the nurses were also and Dr. Polkinghorn was amazing. I highly recommend and I will definitely be back.

The floor in the examination room was filthy. Definitely to do more housekeeping! I was very disappointed at the cleanliness of this room!

Calcium infusion was done in a very comfortable manner and made me feel relaxed

Hello, I thought that the video chat was a little unusual. However, I felt that everything was taken care of and I didn't feel like I was missing anything at all. I just wish I'd have a little bit more time to warm up to the idea. However, I'm more than willing to go full force on it from here. Dr. P is amazing and if that's the best way to get in to see him, I am more than willing to do that. Thank you very much.

Having to wait until exactly 15 minutes prior to register is kind of inconvenient. I got turned away with 6 minutes to go. I go sit down and then when I get back up there is a line of people. Very frustrating.

The people in this facility are excellent

I appreciate everyone being so responsive and getting me in two days in a row for fluids. Everyone was so concerned and caring. Such a wonderful staff!

Support staff is amazing! So were the providers, but people always recognize them, as they should, but what makes your experience a positive are all the support staff. They create a "safe and warm" environment. Thank you.

Dr Polkinghorn is the best!!

From the front desk folks, to the intake nurses, to the lab, to the doctors, to the PAs, to the chair nurses, every single person made me feel valued and cared for, and I couldn't have asked for a better medical team in this past year for my treatment. The Harold Alfond Center for Cancer Care is full of angels. and I am so, so appreciative for each one of them.

Dr Polkinghorn was knowledgeable about my medical history. He is always a good listener and is very decisive with his recommendations. Everyone is very pleasant and professional when I have my appointments.

Doctor Polkinghorn is always so very kind and compassionate. Having stage four cancer is tough but he and his staff always make me feel special and cared for. I would highly recommend Dr. P and Dr. Sen. they are both class acts.

I am still a little unsure as the doctor suggested the opposite of what my last hemotologist has recommended so am struggling a little with being so total opposite of each other. I do appreciate that he wants to do a CT scan before making any changes.

Appointment was all on time. The registration lady was very personable. Hemotologists were outstanding. Assessment lady was very good as well and the doctor was spot on. All in all I was very pleased.

Always find courteous and helpful and friendly staff. I have been coming to this facility since it open in 2007 you have some of the best nurses and the best doctor. I'm prejudiced doctor Polkinghorn saved my life in 2015.

They are the best of the best. If only the hospital would adopt their kindness and caring..

The quality of care is exceptional at the ACCC. The medical staff and administrative staff are almost always accommodating and are compassionate all the time.
