Since other health problems that I have may complicate my arthritis treatment, I am grateful that my physician took the time to look further into finding the right solutions for me. Some new lab tests were ordered.

It's so amazing to have a great Lupus doctor who really knows your records and can offer helpful suggestions. I feel like my other doctors just encourage me to go talk to the next doctor who then points the finger back to the first one. I've been getting the run around on some issues that were all clarified during my appointment yesterday. I'm so thankful to have a great rheumatologist. Please take good care of him. They are hard to come by. The receptionist that works for him is also amazing. She helped me get on the portal and she is just a kind person. They make a great team!

We were so impressed with Dr OConnell. He had reviewed my chart before he met with me so was aware that there had been a new cancer diagnosis since my last visit. He spent a lot of time discussing my cancer treatment plan to ensure that the medication he prescribed for me would not interfere with that treatment. He took the time to research the medication to make sure there were no side effects that could make my illness worse. I am so happy to have Dr OConnell on my side.

You need to improve the communication between this group and other medical groups in the state. The doctor couldn't look at the xrays I brought with me on disc or receive a "push" of them from Maine Health.

For my 1:15PM appointment, arrived at 1:00PM, 15m early, check in was very brief, did not go to exam room until approx 1:25, then approx 10-15 min with nurse. Dr arrived about 1:55, almost a full hour after my arrival. Dr. apologized, explaining demands of patient load...

And the women and the nurses there, starting with the lady at the front desk and the nurses, they're all very friendly and all very nice and they're really helpful. My doctor didn't really even know that I had changed injections, which was relayed quite some time ago.

Dr.O'Connell is exceptional. He is a good listener and very knowledgeable. I have followed him from when he was in Bangor. I drive 1.5 hours each way to see him. That's how important he is to me! I have referred other friends to him but it is hard for them to get an appointment. You need more RA docs!!

With only one rheumatologist on staff, it took more than a year to get an appointment. Other than that, it's all good. Hopefully you are recruiting for at least two more rheumatologists.

Erik O'Connell, I was amazed. I figured he just had me in there for 15 to 20 minutes. He had me in there almost an hour, went over every test and result that I have had for the last 15 years. I was totally impressed with how thorough he was about seeing me as a person because my PCP knows me inside and out, but Erik did not. I left very well informed and I am just amazed and I can't thank him enough for being so personal and so thorough to help me with my situation. That is all I can say. He is the best. I would highly recommend him.

I waited for 45 minutes to see my provider. I was tired and irritable BUT once I met my provider, my whole attitude changed. He seemed genuinely interested in my condition and in the events that led to my diagnosis - much more so than any of the other rheumatologists I've seen (I have liked them all, but this man was definitely more engaged and concerned about my diagnosis.) I am so happpy to be going to this office!

Yes, I just wanted to say that this was my first time with Dr. O'Connell. I was very impressed with Dr. O'Connell and the time we spent together. His listening to what I had to say and asking questions was immediately a feeling of comfort and satisfaction to me. ITo say that I was pleasantly surprised meeting Dr. O'Connell would be a huge understatement. From the moment that he entered the exam room he was kind, thoughtful and engaging. He made sure to review my history with me, asking questions and offering guidance as we discussed it. He showed intrigue by the lack of a diagnosis for my ongoing autoimmune issues. He reviewed my x-rays and lab results with me and offered insight to my years of going undiagnosed. It was obvious to me that he had thoroughly reviewed my medical records before meeting me. Dr. O'Connell even recognized some inflammation on my x-rays that could possibly explain my years of knee pain which has always been described as normal. He showed me the areas of interest on my x-rays and thoroughly went through my lab work history. He explained everything in a way that was understandable and ensured that I understood the whys behind the lab tests and what my personal numbers should be. I felt that he went above and beyond in a way that hasn't been addressed in the last 10 years (plus) of dealing with uveitis and being on high risk medication . What normally is a quick yearly check-in, ended up being the most informative meeting that I wasn't expecting. I am thrilled knowing that Dr. O'Connell will be overseeing my rheumatology health care needs moving forward. MGH is extremely lucky to have such a personable, caring doctor seeing their patients. I myself am grateful and sincerely thankful for meeting Dr.O'Connell and am confident and relieved to be in good hands. Additionally the MA was extremely pleasant and professional during our brief encounter.

The check in window is hidden and stood in line for neurology under the Rheumatology sign for 15 mins then was told to go to another window. Not well marked!

Honestly a waste of my time and the doctors. No discussion at all about my joints , my ability to function or even sjogrens other than my dry eye. Very nice man but i dont need to drive 45 minutes to a rheumatologist to talk to a nice man

my recent visit was with Erik OConnell my new rheumatoid arthritis doctor and I was very impressed with his knowledge and I wish I had him in the beginning of my disease.

I arrived at 11:53 am for an 11:45 appointment. I was taken into an exam room at 12:20 pm. The Dr came in at 12:40 pm. He apologized for the wait. It was Clear to me I came at lunchtime. It isn't an issue FOR THIS Dr because he's worth the wait. I wonder how professional it is though.

I was very impressed with the doctor, Erik OConnell. He knew more about my most pressing malady or problem, and I was surprised by that. And I have a great deal of faith in him, and he opened up new avenues that I might take to help the problems that I have, which is a pain in my knee. And he seemed knowledgeable about my condition and showed me x-rays and MRI pictures and I was very impressed with him and very happy with the service. Dr OConnell is thoughtful, thorough, and highly intelligent. I really like that he clearly explained all my options and worked with me to come to a shared decision. I feel good about my plan of care and feel I made an informed choice. I highly recommend Dr OConnell, and this is coming from a patient that has been with rheumatology (with out of state providers) for over 10 years. All of the office staff (I don't remember their names) have been absolutely wonderful. Please pass along my gratitude to their manager as this nurse with nearly 20 years of experience can see their empathy and the quality of care they provide. I've been to some offices in my past where the office staff seem to be going through the motions. I've noticed here that every staff member in Dr OConnell's office is paying attention to get every task right. A wise administrator would provide that office with more than a pizza party! Thank you.
