Alexander Mayer, MD, is residency-trained in plastic and reconstructive surgery and fellowship-trained in aesthetic surgery. He provides plastic and reconstructive surgical services to patients at the Alfond Center for Health in Augusta and Thayer Center for Health in Waterville, including elective plastic surgery, cosmetic surgery, breast reconstruction, body contouring after weight loss and treatment of skin cancer. The interview was, it went very well. I understood clearly, precisely what the whole operation was going to be like, and it was clearly explained to me. And it brings my confidence that the interviewer knew exactly what he's doing. So it takes a lot of fear out of me. I feel more comfortable with him doing whatever he plan to do.

The staff was well aware of the fact that I was a teacher in the school department. And when I saw an opening, went right to call me and think of me first. The doctor is very caring and very open to any kind of questions or suggestions that you have. I have nothing but wonderful things to say about my experience with this office.

So Alexander Mayer actually did what he could and at the best he could to make sure that my experience was worth going to and worth experiencing some of discomfort from the surgery. And he did really well. I don't have issues and I actually enjoy visiting him. He seems to really care about his patients and that is very hard to find in any practice currently. So props to Alexander Mayer for doing a really good job and for being really good to his patients.

It would be desirable to have increased transparency in regard to cost of services. It's a mystery what my procedure will costc, even now 3 days after it. I do have insurance but I expect to bear the full coat given the deductible. Had a similar surgery at the hospital in Bangor, they told me the cost and offered a discount for direct payment.
