Dr. O’Connor has been on the faculty of Maine Dartmouth Family Medicine Residency since 2006. Her clinical work focuses on addiction medicine and the management of opioid use disorders using buprenorphine. She helped develop an integrated medical and behavioral health treatment program that has serves opioid dependent pregnant women. Dr. O’Connor has published original research on infant outcomes following exposure to buprenorphine during pregnancy in many journals including the Journal of Maternal-Fetal and Neonatal Medicine, the Journal of Substance Abuse Treatment, and the American Journal of Obstetrics and Gynecology. Through her role as co-chair of MaineGeneral’s opioid steering committee, she works to expand access to medication assisted treatment in the primary care setting by mentoring other clinicians and practices. She coordinates the residency’s addiction medicine education and has academic appointments at Dartmouth Medical School and Vanderbilt University.
