New Hire-Newly Eligible Benefits

Read all information thoroughly:
All new employees must complete the online enrollment within 30 days of attending Day 1 to ensure you have the benefits you and your family need. You will receive an email outlining the steps you need to complete for your online enrollment.
The benefits handbook below outlines all benefit plans offered at MaineGeneral.
Your scheduled hours determine benefit eligibility:
- Employees scheduled to work 30 or more standard hours per week are eligible for all benefits, including health.
- Employees scheduled to work 20-29 standard hours per week are eligible for all benefits, except health.
- Employees scheduled to work 16 or more standard hours per week are eligible for retirement plans and earned time.
- All employees, including per diem staff, are automatically enrolled in a 4% contribution to the 403b retirement plan, starting with the first paycheck, unless changed. Instructions to increase or decrease retirement contributions can be found below.
- All employees, including per diem staff, can take advantage of wellness, EAP and employee discounts.
What happens if I don't enroll?
If you do not complete the online enrollment, the following coverage will be selected automatically for you:
- Core life insurance (no cost to you)
- Core long-term disability (no cost to you)
- 20-Day Short-Term Disability
- 4% Contribution to the pre-tax 403b retirement account
It is important to understand that if you do not respond within the assigned deadline, you will lose the opportunity to elect any other coverage. This coverage will remain in effect through the end of the calendar year unless you experience an approved status change.
General Benefits
Need a hardcopy of the above benefits materials? You can order one directly from MGH's print shop by following the steps below:
- Go to the Connect page and select Tools & Resources/Print Shop Services
- At the top left-hand corner, select Catalog
- Scroll down the left-hand catalog menu to Human Resources and click the + button to expand
- Choose the materials you want mailed to you via interoffice
- Complete the Selected Form process on the right-hand side and submit when ready
Retirement
403b - Available to all Staff
457 - Available to Medical Staff, Senior Leaders and Administrative Directors
