- “Bad Posture” is a common phrase used to explain a variety of shoulder and back conditions. These injuries and conditions can greatly effect an athlete’s ability to participate in their sport. Athletic trainers are often the first healthcare professionals approached by athletes to decrease the pain and dysfunction associated with these postural issues. Certain conditions such as scoliosis, spondylolisthesis, hypermobility and other complex conditions require interventions with a clinical approach to strengthen core muscles, address stability vs mobility while managing pain. Certified Athletic Trainers should understand appropriate strategies to reduce pain and maximize outcomes from stabilization programs.
- By participating in this program, the viewer will be able to differentiate a variety of conditions in the shoulders and low back that can effect athletes of all ages and skill levels. Participants will also gain skills to apply in the clinical setting for treatment and identification of these conditions as well as demonstrate a variety of techniques for correcting malalignments, managing pain and rehabilitation of these conditions.
MaineGeneral Sports Medicine & Colby College Sports Medicine offer Postural Issues of the Upper and Lower Back.
