Federal Non-Discrimination Compliance

MaineGeneral Health complies with applicable federal civil rights laws. MaineGeneral Health  does not exclude individuals from participation in, deny the benefits of, or otherwise discriminate in the provision of care services on the basis of race, color, national origin, age, disability, or sex, in accordance with Title VI of the Civil Rights Act of 1964, Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act of 1973, the Age Discrimination Act of 1975, and Section 1557 of the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act.

Maine Human Rights Act (MHRA) Compliance

In accordance with the Maine Human Rights Act, MaineGeneral Health does not discriminate in the provision of health care services on the basis of race, color, national origin, ancestry, religion, age, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity, physical or mental disability, or any other status protected by Maine law.

MaineGeneral Health values our patients, their visitors, employees, medical staff, volunteers, students and others.

MaineGeneral Health:

  • Provides free aids and services to people with disabilities to communicate effectively with us, such as:
    • Qualified sign language interpreters
    • Written information in other formats (large print, audio, accessible electronic formats, other formats)
  • Provides free language services to people whose primary language is not English, such as:
    • Qualified interpreters
    • Information written in other languages

During evenings, weekends and holidays, a clinical administrator is available to discuss concerns and can be contacted through the hospital switchboard at (207) 626-1000.
