Senate Secures $5 Million for MaineGeneral Technology

MaineGeneral Health received critical funding in the latest appropriations bill.

The Consolidated Appropriations Act of 2026 included $5 million in Congressionally Directed Spending for MaineGeneral Health’s transition to Epic software. The bill was passed and signed into law on Feb. 3, 2026.

Nathan Howell, president & CEO of MaineGeneral Health, recognized how important the funding is to the transition to the new electronic medical records project:

“We are grateful for the support for the FY2026 CDS funding to assist MaineGeneral’s transition to Epic, a single, state-of-the-art electronic health records system. This is a significant investment that will benefit patients by giving them a single access point for their health care information, scheduling, telehealth, preventive health and electronic payments. Additionally, medical care teams will have real-time access to patient data and tools to enhance care coordination.”
