MaineGeneral Hospice Volunteers continue to offer help to those in need

MaineGeneral Hospice Volunteers of Kennebec Valley continues to offer support to our community during these unprecedented times. While we cannot provide in-person grief support, we offer teleconference options to those in need.

“Bereavement is a painful and difficult journey,” said Kylie Rigano, supervisor or MaineGeneral Hospice Volunteer and Bereavement Services. “During COVID-19, bereaved individuals can feel an even greater sense of isolation and loneliness.”

MaineGeneral offers phone and teleconference bereavement support through:

  • Grief Support Group – This six-week group is for adults who have experienced the death of a loved one. This group is offered many times a year. Participants explore feelings of grief and loss in a safe, supportive peer setting.
  • Survivors of Suicide Loss Grief Support Group – This eight-week group is offered to adults who have had a loved one die by suicide.
  • Child Loss Grief Support Group – This six-week group is offered to adults who have experienced the death of a child of any age.
  • Grief after Death from Addiction – This eight-week group is offered to adults who have had a loved one die due to the misuse of drugs and/or alcohol.

One-on-one emotional support is also available by phone.

All groups are free of charge. Group size is limited and pre-registration is required.

For more information or to register for a group, please call Yvonne Watson, bereavement coordinator, at 207-248-0420 or email yvonne.watson@mainegeneral.org.
