MaineGeneral’s Art Committee will have a reception to honor and remember internationally recognized, award-winning photographer Steven Dunn on Friday, Jan. 3 from 4 to 6 p.m. at the Alfond Center for Health, 35 Medical Center Parkway, Augusta. Please RSVP to Volunteer Services, 626-1243, by Dec. 20.

Dunn’s work will be on display outside the cafeteria on the Terrace level at the Alfond Center for Health Dec. 23, 2019 through Feb. 17, 2020.

Dunn, who passed away this past August, was a photographer for more than 30 years. He is most noted for his impressionistic images and has been referred to as a “Monet with a Camera.” Using such techniques as Polaroid manipulation, multiple exposure, montage and rear projection, he created images that have a true, painterly quality.

Dunn taught courses in visual design and the various photographic techniques he used.  He also studied with internationally recognized photographers Freeman Patterson, Andre Gallant, Joyce Tenneson, Jay Stock and Tony Sweet. Before his death, he published a book of impressionistic photographs of Monhegan Island titled Monhegan – Timeless Impressions of a Special Island.
