MaineGeneral RSVP is looking for a few good men and women to help make life better for veterans and military families.
Volunteers can choose one of three ways to help veterans and military families:
• Provide transportation to the VA hospital in Augusta for medical appointments, using the Disabled American Veterans’ van.
• Help veterans and families sign up for benefits they are eligible to receive. These include medical, educational and survivor benefits, and more.
• Train individuals to use My Health e Vet, a website where veterans and family members can find their health care information; get prescription refills; track personal health goals, doctors’ appointments and more.
Volunteers meet with veterans and military family members at outreach events in their own communities.
Training is provided and basic computer skills are required.
