I have been an occupational therapist for more than 13 years; most of the last 10 have been with this organization.
I was born and raised in Aroostook County, but educated in the central part of the state and had longed to return to the area. I made the transition from an inpatient psychiatric hospital in Fort Fairfield to homecare in September 2002 (marrying and starting a family soon thereafter), and have not looked back since.
Working in homecare is a very well-kept secret. I love the autonomy, the scheduling flexibility and the means to work with clients in their preferred (home) environments. It requires me to "think outside the box," since not all routine, "cookie-cutter" solutions are compatible with all clients or their homes.
I still delve into my previous experiences in the mental health field, but have never felt more "at-home" from a professional standpoint than I do here.
