- When you come in for a sleep study you will
be taken to a private room to spend the night.
- A sleep technician will explain the setup,
answer any questions you have and apply sensors to record brain
wave and muscle activity, eye movements, heart beat, breathing
and oxygen levels.
- Once the setup is complete, you may go to
sleep immediately or may relax by watching television or reading
for a while.
- During the night, you will be able to move,
turn in bed and get up to go to the bathroom. In the morning, the
wires will be removed and you will be free to go.
After your test a physician specializing
in sleep medicine will review your study. The interpretation
and any recommendations will be sent to your doctor.
