MaineGeneral Medical Center's Palliative Care program focuses on helping to make individual patients in a hospital setting as comfortable as possible by addressing issues causing physical or emotional pain or suffering.
Our goals are to improve the quality of life of seriously ill people and to support them and their families during and after treatment.
While hospice focuses on relieving symptoms and supporting patients with a life expectancy of months, palliative care may help at any time during a patient's illness, starting at their diagnosis.
MaineGeneral Health also provides palliative care services on an outpatient basis through MaineGeneral HomeCare & Hospice.
