Interventional Radiology

Interventional radiology (IR) uses X-ray and other imaging techniques to guide narrow tubes (catheters) and other small instruments through blood vessels and other pathways in the body to the site of a problem.

This allows our specialized physicians to treat a variety of medical disorders without surgery.

Procedures performed by our interventional radiologists generally are less costly and traumatic to patients than traditional surgery.

In addition, depending on the therapies used, many procedures can be performed on an outpatient basis, thus eliminating or reducing hospital stays.

Before your exam, you will receive a phone call from a specialized imaging nurse who will provide you with information and preparation instructions.
