Legacy of Caring
As Maine's first certified hospice, we have a long tradition of caring.
Our responsive quality care team explores and implements best practices and opportunities as community need arises.
We work with nursing facilities to provide collaborative care and a dedicated nursing facility liaison RN.
MaineGeneral Hospice provides intensive comfort care for periods of increased symptoms or as your disease progresses, including:
- Increased nursing, HHA, SW, and chaplain visits as desired
- After-hours check-in calls
- Tender Care Volunteers
- Education for families
- Bereavement counselors
We also have experienced after-hours care nurses dedicated to patient and family support outside of our regular office hours.
Our Comfort and Compassion at Journey's End dementia care program supports the unique needs of people with dementia and provides support to families. We have developed individualized plans of care and pain assessment tools for dementia patients.
Our staff receives specialized training in dementia care.
Care gift bags are selected for each patient to promote meaningful communication and comfort. The specially chosen items are intended to help stimulate the senses of sight, touch, smell, taste and hearing.
