Led by Medical Director Sean McGarr, DO, the Gastrointestinal (GI) Oncology Program at the Harold Alfond Center for Cancer Care in Augusta, Maine is a multidisciplinary clinic providing excellence in diagnosis, treatment and follow-up care for individuals with gastrointestinal cancer (cancer of the digestive system).
This includes cancers of the:
- Bile duct
- Small intestine
- Large intestine (colon)
Some form of gastrointestinal cancer is newly diagnosed in more than 250,000 patients annually in the United States.
This total amounts to about 20 percent of all newly diagnosed cancers every year.
