Welcome to the Family Medicine Institute (FMI). We are a group of family practitioners—physicians, physician assistants, nurse practitioners and nurses—trained to care for you and your family at all stages of life, from prenatal to geriatrics.

Each patient has a primary care provider who gets to know each of his or her patients individually.

We are also a residency training program for doctors specializing in family medicine. Faculty physicians oversee our resident doctors who train here and at MaineGeneral Medical Center for three years.

We are affiliated with Dartmouth Medical School, the University of New England School of Osteopathic Medicine and MaineGeneral Medical Center. We provide a wide range of services which include:
