Speech Therapy

MaineGeneral's Speech Therapy Department provides a range of comprehensive services that includes:

  • Evaluation and treatment of communication disorders

  • Motor speech disorders

  • Swallowing disorders

  • Cognitive disorders

  • Voice disorders

We also provide laryngectomy rehabilitation and augmentative communication training.

Swallowing Disorders
Dysphagia, or difficulty with swallowing, is common among people who have had strokes but also can be a complication of head and neck cancer as well as Parkinson's disease, ALSoculopharyngeal muscular dystrophy (OPMD) and numerous other neurological diseases.

Speech Disorders

At MGMC, our licensed speech therapists are highly experienced and expertly trained in the diagnosis, treatment, and management of many types of speech problems.

Our speech therapists hold certifications in a variety of treatment techniques, as well as a Certificate of Clinical Competency from the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association.
