Long-Term Substance Abuse Residential Treatment
|
MaineGeneral Residential Services provides high-quality extended care for those chronically addicted to substances who need long-term, supervised residential substance abuse treatment.
Our program is offered at two locations — Augusta and Sidney — for individuals who have had long-term difficulty with substance abuse and may also need support with a mental health diagnosis.
Formerly known as Hearthside (Sidney site) and Spruce Street Residence (Augusta site), our program is licensed by the state of Maine to provide services to those with co-occurring disorders.
The 9 Spruce Street, Augusta, location can accommodate eight women and the 2093 Belgrade Road, Sidney location can accommodate 12 men.
Our program employs 10 staff members per site who work on a rotating basis to ensure we provide coverage, assistance and support for our residents 24 hours per day, seven days per week.
Our Treatment Approach
Treatment is from seven to nine months in an abstinence-based setting, supported by:
- Daily individual and group counseling
- Regular participation in Alcoholics Anonymous (AA) and/or Narcotics Anonymous (NA) meetings
- Psychiatric services and support for those with mental health diagnoses
- Off-site medical care and referrals
- Access to immediate emergency services
- Assistance in acquiring benefits — food stamps, MaineCare and other community support services — depending on need and eligibility
- Extensive needs assessments for coordinating aftercare treatment
These services are designed to help adults get the extra structure and treatment they need to stay clean and/or sober and live successfully in their communities.
Program Costs Our mission is to provide needed services regardless of an individual's ability to pay.
Our program is supported by MaineCare reimbursement and grant funding. We encourage individuals who can benefit from our program — or their families — to apply for MaineCare coverage. Our staff can assist individuals/families with the application process.
Contact Us If you are an individual — or the family member of an individual — who continues to struggle with addiction and has not been able to maintain a successful recovery program, please call (877) 777-9393 (toll-free) for a screening appointment and more information.
