H1N1 Booster Information The Maine Center for Disease Control recommends children 9 years and younger receive two H1N1 shots because:
- There have been many cases of H1N1 flu in children
- They are in close contact with each other in school and day care settings, which increases the likelihood of the disease to spread
Current data suggests that children age 6 months to 9 years have little or no evidence of protective antibodies to the H1N1 2009 virus.
The second shot is intended to help boost the body's response to fight off sickness.
Contact your child's pediatrician or primary care provider for information on H1N1 booster vaccination.
