MGH Ambulatory Electronic Medical Record (EMR) Project
|
MaineGeneral Health's Ambulatory EMR project follows a vision of "One patient. One chart".
This approach is best portrayed in the creation of a single up-to-date medication list, allergy list and repository of test results and progress notes for each patient.
Clinicians providing patient care in the Kennebec Valley area have access to an up-to-date medical chart anytime, anywhere.
Every time a doctor sees a patient, he or she enters the latest updates into the electronic medical record (EMR).
This information is easily retrievable and shared by physicians so every time a patient is treated, the doctor has complete and up-to-date information.
MaineGeneral's EMR system currently has 26 participating physician office practices in the Kennebec Valley region.
These practices consist of primary, specialty and ancillary care as well as school-based health programs at Cony High School and Hodgkins Middle School in Augusta and Maranacook middle and high schools in Readfield.
MaineGeneral-affiliated laboratories, MaineGeneral Medical Center's emergency departments and admitting nurses and hospitalists at MGMC also use the EMR to help provide better care to patients.
